I went to get an ultrasound for my veins in my neck. The tech had read my previous reports before she began the examine, she noticed a small nodule in the right side of my neck in my thyroid. She marked this nodule although it had nothing to do with the doctor's order and told me to make sure to mention it when I saw him.
When I got my report back my veins were fine. However, the doctor was very concerned about the nodule in my thyroid. I have had hypothyroidism since I was fifteen altough unexpectedly a doctor pulled me off thyroid medication stating my tyroid was fine after doing a blood test including the thyroid medications keeping me in the normal range. As soon as he took me off the meds, I gained nintey pounds. Back to the current story. The doctor referred me to a surgeon who ordered a biopsy where they used ultrasound and took six seperate pieces of thyroid tissue. They found cancer in one. It was minute but they felt that since I already had cervical cancer it would be prudent to remove my thyroid.
