I am 63. Diabetes is rampant in my family-Mother had diabetes and died of pancreatic cancer at 65, aunts, uncles, grandparents. I periodically get tested for diabetes and the tests are always normal. Yet, I have chronic symptoms since I turned 48 or so that some say indicate diabetes and others say simply menopause: hot flashes, sweats, heart palps, waves of nausea, bloat, Sometimes i get all of these symptoms at the same time. They come in waves and last a minute or so each episode. As soon as I awake in the morning I get a wave of nausea followed by the other symptoms. I've been tested for thyroidisms and normal. Tested for adrenal failure, normal. They seem to occur the most following a high carb meal or a sweet snack which makes me think diabetes. If I can manage to stay away from the carbs and sugar they don't happen during the day, but still over night. I've complained to doctors about these symptoms for years and they just draw blanks.
