Hi--when I was 21, I had my right ovary taken out due to multiple massive cysts and torquing of my fallopian tube. I had two healthy pregnancies when I was 38 and 40. After my second pregnancy, I was diagnosed with Graves disease for which I was treated with tapazole until it went into remission 1.5 years ago so I'm happily no longer on medication. I'm very healthy -- 5'8", 124 pounds, largely avoid most simple carbs and gluten, and run 6 times per week (and do half marathons). My periods are regular and normal. Here's the mystery: For about the past 25 years or so (I don't know if it started when I had my right ovary taken out but it was around then), I've had night drenches about 4 - 5 times per week. I soak my sheets, my hair is dripping, I'm cold, I get woken up, etc. I've kind of learned to live with them but some nights I just don't want to go to sleep because I know I'll be freezing, wet and miserable. I have taken to sleeping in a sleeping bag (my husband's idea) and then when I drench it, I at least can get out of it, change, and then get onto our dry sheets and under our dry blankets. My sweating, though, has turned our white blankets yellowish where they touch me. Years ago, I was tested for the usual suspects -- typhoid, AIDs, etc -- all negative. More recently, my endocrinologist has tested my female hormones but hasn't seen anything out of the ordinary. Any doctor I see -- OB, GP, endocrinologist -- I mention it to but no one can figure it out -- but, honestly, no one seems that concerned and therefore interested in figuring it out. The only time I didn't have night sweats were during my wonderful pregnancies -- I had the most comfortable and dry sleeps! So that leads me to beleve that there's some connection to hormones. The night sweats tend to get slightly less intense right after my period but not always...I've tried tracking when they're worse vs better and there's on rhyme or reason. If you can suggest any tests to help me find a remedy, I'd be eternally grateful!
