I am undergoing my second period of the month and it is more prolonged than usual. Could something be wrong?

I began a second period 8 days after my previous one, and it has now been bleeding for 8 days. I am taking birth control, and the last time I had intercourse was November 27th. I am 18. I started my period on December 10th and it lasted until December 13th, but then began again on December 21st. This is the first time this has happened. What does this mean?
