Hello everyone. I have a bit of a problem and I am very confused. My boyfriend and I had protected sex for the first time a few weeks ago. Nothing out of the ordinary happened during or afterward, it went fine. About a week later we had protected sex for the second time. However, since then I have been having strange amounts of white discharge, that also smells pretty bad. This is out of the ordinary for me, as I have never had any sort of infection down there.... I looked online and I am pretty sure it is Bacterial Vaginosis, from the symptoms, although the ONLY symptom I have is the smelly discharge. I am going to go to the doctor soon about it, but everywhere I look online they always say it is obtained from unprotected sex.... so how in the world did I get it!?
His penis did not come into contact with my vagina at all. The condoms did not break (we checked). Is it possible the condoms are causing irritation? They are non-latex condoms, and we also use a water-based lube to make sure the condoms dont break, and water-based lube, as I've read, is also safest because, unlike oil-based, it does not erode condoms or clog pores and lead to infection. I've made sure to wash up just in case afterward and everything to get rid of excess lube, basically we have been very safe and clean about it. So what in the world is the deal? It can't be that I am allergic to latex, as the condoms are not latex.
Any help is greatly appreciated. I've looked everywhere for answers but they all are related to unprotected sex, which is not the situation I am in at all. So I needed to ask a question of my own.
