Hello,
I am 22 years old and I haven't had a period in 39 days. I am sexually active but my boyfriend and I ALWAYS use condoms and none have ever broken or torn. We also make sure he pulls out before finishing. I took a home pregnancy test (first response digital one) this morning with morning urine and it was negative. I know the chances are quite slim, but if nothing happens I plan to retest in a few days.
I've been tracking my periods for about a year now, and I've come to the conclusion that I might have an irregular cycle. My cycle tends to fluctuate between 28-32 days with the longest time without a period being 36 days. My last period came about a week early on the 16th of June, being a 23 day cycle. It acted like the rest of my periods being rather heavy and being the normal length. I also had some odd mid-cycle spotting around July 5th, around the time I thought I was ovulating due to the change in discharge. It looked like small streak of old brown blood and lasted 2-3 days, ending with what looked to be dark fresher blood. No more spotting has been found since then. I thought it may have been ovulation bleeding and then re-estimated my period to come around July 17-20th. I know without a test I cannot know for sure if I even ovulated.
I have changed my diet, I reintroduced myself to eating red meat and started taking vitamin B-12 supplements after learning I had a deficiency. Before taking the pregnancy test I had been stressing about the possibility of being pregnant quite a bit, but I am trying to relax about it now. My sleep patterns has also changed a bit as I am visiting my boyfriend out-of-state in a different time zone for a few months. I will be returning home the 22 of August and I plan to make an appointment with my obygn, but for now I am just curious as to why I might be so late if it isn't pregnancy. Can stress really make you miss a period completely? Or is my cycle just being really irregular?
