My husband is 51 yrs old is currently on hemodialysis at in center for over 2 years. He is not feeling as well as he use to after dialysis 3 x's per week for 5 hours each session. We are considering peritoneal instead. Our concern is his heart condition. He has a defib connected to his heart due to abnormal afib and tachycardia. He had a quadruple by pass due to massive heart attack when he was 38 years of age. He is diabetic and has stage 5 end stage kidney failure, high blood pressure. With all these elements, is Peritoneal a much better option for his heath condition? He is very afraid of heart complications after hemodialysis and cramping which seems to be a side effect after hemo tx recently. He is also becoming a lot more tired than before after tx.
