Hello, My daughter was diagnosed with mild scoliosis with curve of 13. Monitoring her 18 months later curve was 21. This was at 16 years old. 6 months later at 16.5 years her curve had changed to 35 with trunk misalignment. The doctor first said surgery mostly due to the trunk shift, lower curve I think is 27. There has been no change in 4 months in her curve, now the doctor is considering a brace to see if this will correct the trunk shift? He said it is a long shot and only a 10% chance it could work but her case is so unusual he does not want to dive into surgery. She had a fractured skull in 2010 which he believes contributed to this late curve when she was already done growing. I am unsure if we should just proceed with surgery or try the brace which will have emotional effects on my daughter, not to mention push the surgery to her senior year in high school which she does not want. We were prepared to do the surgery this November or December and now we are unsure what we should do. Please tell me if you have heard of any cases of children who are not growing wearing a brace to correct issues. I can not find any information on the internet about this or about situations like hers. Thank you, Diane
