I've been with my partner almost two years and we used to have an amazing sex life. We love experimenting with toys, positions and lingerie. However, I have always known I have a blood deficiency which causes my blood to clot at a dangerous rate. Choices for birth control were left limited and we finally settled on the Mirena coil around 6 months ago. Since then, nothing has been the same. My boyfriend is intent on keeping me satisfied and happy but I don't ever feel like I want to have sex anymore. When we do, it's painful and I struggle to become aroused. We both used to be so active and it's ruining our sex life. My boyfriend is intent on giving me a vaginal orgasm but it seems impossible since the I had the coil fitted. I had multiple problems in the first few months and was admitted to hospital on three occasions where they believed the coil had become dislodged and was causing agonising pain to my abdomen. My boyfriendhas remained so supportive ever since but is understandably keen for me to get the coil removed and is worried about any effects it may be causing me long term. However, because of my blood condition, the coil is the only method of birth control doctors have suggested to me as I also do not respond well to progestrogen only methods. Has anyone else experienced anything similar? I'm desperate for a solution as it's seriously affecting both of our self confidence and having a massive impact on our once incredible sex life.
