Hi! Just wondering whether it's too early to merit seeing a fertility doctor yet since I have not yet ovulated 5 months after going off the NuvaRing, and had only one period, and no ovulations. I'll give a thorough background of myself to help any assessment, in case something is relevant. Thank you for any advice or thoughts!
26 years old. 5'11 and 130 pounds (bmi 18.1)
I eat an average of 2500 calories a day (minimally processed foods centered around rice, beans, oats, potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn, and wheat. 9+ servings of varied fruits and vegetables including dark green leafy vegetables, and some nuts and seeds and avocado.
I exercise moderately for about 30-45 minutes 4-5 days a week.
Had to take daily antibiotics for a year straight when about 8 years old for chronic bladder infections. I am still somewhat prone to getting bladder infections and have used antibiotics a few times in the last few years for them.
Had a minor case of bell's palsy around the age of 11, which I recovered from.
After finishing my last NuvaRing near the end of December 2014, my period started 3 days later. I had another period 40 days later, but did not ovulate. Now on day 124 since that period, with no ovulation, no temperature spikes or rising temperatures. Waking temperature usually in between 96.8 and 97.1 degrees.
A general blood test taken in November 2014, while on the NuvaRing, suggested that I had a TSH value of 3.9 perhaps indicating underactive thyroid (although these tests are often inaccurate and should be repeated), but another blood test in March 2015 (2+ months after finishing NuvaRing) showed a TSH at 1.9 and free T4 of 0.92 indicating normal thyroid function.
All other blood test values both in November 2014 and March 2015 in healthy expected range. Total cholesterol 140 mg/dL.
Daily cervical fluid of varying quality (mostly wet and creamy) ever since I began charting in January, and seemingly perhaps ever since I can remember, at least starting around 7 years ago, before going on birth control, and also during the use of birth control pills and later with NuvaRing. But absolutely since I have been charting, since the beginning of January I have had the daily cervical fluid, and seemingly always if my memories of what I noticed (frequent/daily moist underwear) are correct.
I always had longer than average cycle lengths 6+ years ago, with about 5 weeks per cycle.
Typical counsel often suggests that my body just needs more time, perhaps a year even, after going off birth control, to begin ovulating and having regular periods. I eat all I care for of healthy foods, and do not restrict calories (averaging about 2500 daily). I began eating the above described foods in July 2014 (last year), and prior to that, ate only moderate amounts of meat, but enjoyed all typical american foods and desserts. Lost about ten pounds over the next several months after switching what I eat then levelled off. I feel energetic and healthy.
