I'm healthy 41 yr old. I'm rarely sick, but I'm always sick exactly 5 days after the Flu vaccination. I work in a Hospital and the Flu Vaccination is required for employment. Each of the 4 times I have had the shot I have had severe reactions in vomiting and diarrhea where I can't even pick myself up off the bathroom floor to get water without passing out. This year was worse. On day 6, after the typical "rough" night, I woke up with the first spot on my face and swelling which within the next two days of doctor appointments would be diagnosed as Shingles. Unfortunately, my shingles traveled up my optical nerve and I have scar lesions on my cornea, which I'm so very lucky they do not hinder my plane of vision. My hearing was effected on my auditory nerve, each tooth on my right side hurt, the weeping blisters and welts on my face were awful and took 3 months before pain subsided. The Eye Doctor's nurse even told me they have a significant increase in Shingles in the fall. This is NOT a coincidence. I agree that there needs to be Doctors out there that have our backs. This is NOT something you make up! Why would I not want a flu shot if it was as easy as they say and prevents you from getting sick??? But it doesn't prevent me from getting sick...this time is almost made me legally blind in my right eye.
