Wedding planning can be stressful but the most important thing is to take care of yourself while doing the planning.
Here are my personal wedding beauty tips that will make you look like a princess on your big day:
1. Plan Early - For those of us in the makeup industry, we know how difficult it is to keep our skin glowing and in top shape. This is the reason why I recommend my clients to start planning early (usually 6 months in advance). Adopt a good skin care routine and stick to it! Planning ahead allows you to figure out what works and what doesn't and to make minor changes to your routine if you need. If you find yourself short on time, hire a professional and schedule facial sessions.
2. Eliminate Acne First - This is the first area that you should focus on. I know it's tempting, but do not pop those pimples. Popping them will leave behind scars. Instead, apply benzoyl peroxide gel on the infected area to help dry it out. If that doesn't work well, seek the help of a dermatologist.
3. Eat Super Foods - Take care of your body internally as well. Eating foods like watermelons, grapefruit, tomatoes, and cucumbers can help to keep your body hydrated and your hormones in check. Want a shortcut? Grab a sandwich and fruit cup at your local Subway store and ask them to include all the vegetables mentioned above.
4. Exfoliate regularly - It's going to be too late the night before your wedding day to start exfoliating. Do this in your regular skin prep routine to ensure that your pores will not look like poke-dots on the day of your wedding. You can also try to use salt scrubs to help exfoliate and breakdown dry patches.
5. Don't forget your lips - This one is often forgotten until the day of the wedding. On your wedding day, your lips should be reserved for your favorite lipstick, not the lip balm. Ensure that you apply lip balm regularly to ensure that your lips are smooth on your big day!
6. Check Your Moisturizer - Does your regular moisturizer match with your skin type? If you have oily skin, look for ingredients like hyaluronic acid which is great for hydration. If you have dry skin, look for an oil based formula.
