I got the copper IUD inserted a few days ago, on day two of my period. My typical period is around 4-5 days long and consists of:
Day 1 - Cramping, with light spotting.
Day 2 & 3 - Light flow, with little to no cramping
Day 4 - Medium flow, with only slight cramping
Day 5 - Slight cramping, with light spotting.
So, following my usual periods, I should be getting my medium flow day, but everyday since insertion I've only had slight spotting, and I was only really cramping on the first day of having the IUD, since then I've been absolutely fine.
My question is, has the insertion "stopped" my period, or is this just going to be the calm before the storm, and I should give it a week to see if anything else happens? My usual cycle is 28 days, and my period started bang on when it should have, but for some reason it's just halted after IUD insertion?
I had two implanon's back to back prior to getting the IUD, but they still followed the same cycle, which I've had since I was around 13 (now almost 24), so having my cycle suddenly change is highly unusual for me, but not sure if it's just due to the slightly invasive nature of getting the IUD inserted?
To clarify, hormonal birth control hasn't changed my natural cycle, I've been tracking it from an early age as my mother always talked about how important it was to track your period so that you didn't get any "surprises"!
