I used my saliva as lubricant on my boyfriend a week or so after I had a cold sore. I did not give skin to skin contact with his genitals. Is my saliva still infected even though the cold sore has healed? Just before and during the time I had a cold sore I did not kiss or give oral sex/use my saliva on him while I had a visible cold sore. I've researched and different sources say different things, some say that hsv1 cannot be spread with saliva Alone especially when fully healed where as some say there is a small chance.
When is it safe for a person who gets cold sores to use saliva/perform oral sex on their partner?
So far it's been about 2 weeks since it happened and my boyfriend hasn't developed any symptoms.
I've had about 3 cold sores in my life if this is any relevance.
