Hello,
My name is Amie. I am a mom of three going back to school after 10 years, and I utilize welfare to help myself and family with not only medical issues but also as a way to gain an education, and gain a greater respect for myself for achieving a goal of a college education.
As so of you may know there are many stereotypes that go along with receiving welfare help, but you need to just brush that off your shoulder and remember that you are doing this for you family. Not to mention that if you have ever worked in your life you too have paid money into the welfare system for others in their time of need. Now it's you turn. While dealing with the outsiders and their comments let us also add on the welfare system and the ordeals we handle with them. I had my first child at 19, my second at 24, and now my third at 29. I have been through what a lot of you are going through right now in regards to welfare, the treatment that they and other can give you, and a lack of knowledge when it comes to the options, and special allowances that they can offer. A lot of times there are things that welfare can offer you that you may not be aware of. Here in Pa our welfare system has a huge amount of allowances that you receive if you go to college or finish getting you GED. They a lot of cash advances on clothing, internet bill payment, car allowances, book allowances, unlimited car repairs, gas allowance and many other things. I have created this thread for those of you whom want to discuss you feelings, questions, or comments when it comes to welfare. I have a lot of advise that I can offer but at the same time I am sure that you also may be able to offer us advice to. The only way that I found out about these special allowance was the hard way. I had to fight for every bit of information that I have. Now that I am at college again after 10 years and quitting my job I am able to live off of the income I receive from welfare and school. I also can offer you options in regards to getting into college or back to college in a way that you can go to school full time and either work part time or not at all and still be able to maintain a good life for you and your family. Both my husband and myself are full time students. We are making it work and so can you. With going back to school you have choice and options about your future for you, your baby, and your life. Please take the time to ask me anything you would like. If I do not know it I will find out for you.
