EmpowHer:
Is it true that heart disease is a leading cause of death for women and they are six times more likely to die of heart disease than breast cancer --which women are more scared of breast cancer?
Dr. Alfred Bove:
Oh sure, it might be four times, but clearly its many times more than a risk of breast cancer and particularly in older women. I mean heart disease is a disease of people that are older. I mean men start to get heart disease in their 40s and 50s. Women start to get heart disease in their late 50s, 60s, but when you get into the age group of healthy women in their 60s, post-menopausal, heart disease clearly is the most common problem for long term survival.
