So I woke up with a headache one morning when I was about 31. I was up in Flag for a week-long workshop. Went into town and got some Tylenol or something. Headache didn't go away. It was right behind my right eye. Long story short, saw opthalmalogists, neurologists, pain docs, had acupuncture, physical therapy, used a TENS unit, had this Chinese thing where they put these little tiny beads on your ear. Have been on every medication there is. Even went to a well known neurologist in Phoenix who is a well-known headache specialist. I have been off all foods people with migraines shouldn't eat, I do yoga and work-out at least 3,4 times a week. I'm 62, a retired special ed teacher and principal who is going back to work in the fall. I also teach for several universities at night. I know, I do a lot. but I was home chilling all year and it made no difference. I had a really bad car accident when I was 28 and have had problems with the right side of my neck and shoulder ever since. I know that's where the headaches are coming from, for as I get older, the pain in my shoulder and neck has progressively gotten worse. MRIs don't show anything. All brain scans are normal. I am on and off Butalbitol (Fioricet) which is highly addictive,, and other pain meds as well. The Butalbital is the only one that helps. And I have been given all of them! So now I have once again taken myself off the Butalbital as I'm getting lots of rebounds.
Changes in climate and pressure really affect the headaches.
I live a really normal life. I'm married, have grown children, go to plays, movies, out to eat, etc. I rarely let the headaches top me from doing anything. I just hurt much of the time, sometimes more and sometimes not quite as bad. I can only sleep on my left side as my head hurts too badly if I sleep on the right side.
Wondering if anyone out there has a similar problem, and what you do about it, how you manage.
