A new study out of UNC (University of North Carolina) may have found a way to use adult stem cells to heal broken bones.
According to Science Daily, the stem cells in human bone marrow, called mesenchymal stem cells, can turn into bone, cartilage, fat, muscle and blood vessel cells. This new treatment could help millions of adults with osteoporosis and other chronic bone conditions.
What do you think about this? Would you be an "early adopter" of this method and use your own stem cells (don't worry...they aren't the highly debated embroyonic stem cells) in order to help your body heal? The tests are currently being conducted on mice, but it might not be long until this is available.
