Dr. Peter Rosen is a Medical Director at the Roy and Patricia Disney Family Cancer Center at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center. He considered a career as a professional trombone player before deciding to attend medical school and pursue his career as a doctor.

Dr. Rosen:
And he said, “Peter,” he says, “If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn’t do this.” He said, “I think you’re smart guy and I think you should do something else.”
Meanwhile, my father, who was a émigré from Nazi Germany, was frightened of me becoming a musician in terms of job security and asked me to become a dentist.
I said, “I had no intention of ever becoming a dentist,” so I settled on medicine. Isn’t that a circuitous story? It’s not your typical story of somebody waking up and saying, “I’ve always wanted to be a doctor.”
