Sonya Zepeda shares why a woman should not try to change a man, but can mold him into a better person.
Sonya Zepeda:
I have a ton of women, whether you’re just starting in a relationship or married and in a relationship for 15 plus years that try to train or change, as a lot of men like to say, and mold a man. I think the biggest lesson for people to learn that I personally learned myself is that you can’t change a man. Nobody likes to be changed just as I’m sure you as a woman wouldn’t want to be changed. You want to maintain your individuality so I think that’s one of those things where a lot of times ladies fall in love with the concept with the man rather than the man himself and don’t tolerate all the things that come with him.
At the end of the day I think men are pretty simple. So you sort of just have to come to accept certain things and roll with the punches. If he wants to have his sports, if he enjoys a gamble every now and again, things of that nature, you have to sort of give them their freedoms as you demand your own freedoms.
In terms of molding a man and I would say giving them better manners, I think that that is something that you can do in terms of basic etiquette and you know, this is how things done, this is how you want the house laid out, this is how you want . . . picking your tastes in things if you’re going around decorating and things of that nature, you can kind of mold the man into your world that way but at the end of the day you still have to let him be who he is and enjoy life as he knew it before he met you because otherwise you are going to start to build up some resentment in the relationship. So, I guess I would say you can’t change the man or don’t try to change him, but you can certainly try to mold and shape and better him along.
