There are times in all relationships when things don't run smoothly. That doesn’t have to mean the end.

Here are seven common signs of relationship troubles and solutions that can help.

Relationship Trouble #1: Lack of communication
If you and your partner have become unable to discuss problems you’re going through, red lights should be flashing, wrote Health24.com.

HelpGuide.org said honest, direct communication is a key to any relationship. Critical to communication are nonverbal cues like eye contact and leaning forward.

Dating for Today’s Man added, if you want your relationship to work, you need to learn how to also listen properly to your partner.

Relationship Trouble #2: Conflict
If you spend more time fighting than not, that’s a real relationship trouble, said SavvyMiss.com.

Dr. Nili Sachs of Marriage Friendly Therapists wrote that contempt and its expressions are the "deadliest sin" of all troubled relationships.

Find the roots of this conflict or they'll destroy your relationship.

Relationship Trouble #3: Differences in child rearing
Many relationships have floundered when parents differ in how the kids should be disciplined, said Health24.com.

If one parent allows everything and the other is the heavy, they are undermining each other. Communication and compromise are necessary in solving this relationship trouble.

Relationship Trouble #4: Outside family problems
Most people have family troubles now and again, but if your family despises your partner and treats him/her without respect or vice versa, things can become very difficult, said Health24.com.

Determine a common front when dealing with your respective families and ask them to respect your choices.

Relationship Trouble #5: Differences with household cleanliness
Differing attitudes toward household cleanliness can spell serious trouble. Fairly divide household chores and stick to it.

Relationship Trouble #6: Sex
Sex is integral in any relationship. Sexual needs differ for all couples, but if it's been months, that’s a sign your relationship is in trouble.

Dating for Today’s Man advised, to improve your sex life, show your partner what you want done differently or guide him or her during lovemaking.

Keep an open mind and attitude and you can improve both of your styles and skills in the bedroom.

Relationship Trouble #7: Lack of intimacy
SavvyMiss.com wrote that even if you’re having somewhat-obligatory sex, there could be crucial intimacy missing and that spells relationship trouble.

Work to bring intimacy back in the relationship. Kissing is a good example. It’s a great way to feel connected.

Relationships require ongoing attention, commitment and effort to flourish, said HelpGuide.org. Listen to both your head and heart, and recognize the signs of relationship troubles.
