I wanted to let you know about a really great contest that is going on right now on fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg’s website. She is sponsoring a web-based contest called “Women You Love,” and is asking for people to submit entries that describe a woman who has been inspirational to them. The grand prize winner will receive a $5,000 shopping spree, a trip for two to New York and two tickets to a fashion show—not bad!

All you need to do to enter is go to her website at http://inside.dvf.com/womenyoulove and click on the contest banner. You can sign up for the contest and submit your entry, which is supposed to be about a woman you personally know who you love. Think of your Mom, sister, grandma, teacher, best friend, advocate, etc.—anyone who you know and love who has inspired you would be perfect to write about.

I just love this contest because I think it’s so important for women to celebrate one another every day, and I admire Ms. von Furstenberg for coming up with this idea. I’m going to submit an entry about one of my dearest friends, and if you have the chance, I would love it if you would also consider sending in an entry. Please mention that you read about the contest here on this website—I think she would get a kick out of knowing that there’s a group of smart and strong women who are coming together to support one another, and who would like to be part of her “EmpowHering” contest.
