Tim Berger, MD professor of Clinical Dermatology Department of Dermatology explains to women if there is any connection between Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome & acne.
Dr. Tim Berger: Yes, women with polycystic ovaries frequently are hyper-androgen. So, they have excess male hormone relative to the amount of female hormone they have and that causes them to have acne. That also causes them to have excess hair growth on the upper lip, chin, centered chest, and in the pubic area and that is often a more specific marker for that syndrome.
