Annoying hot weather issue: monkey butt

Whenever the weather gets particularly hot and humid, I get an annoying irritation between the buttocks. Athletes call this "monkey butt," and the treatment of choice is called Anti-Monkey Butt Powder. I kid you not!

Excessive sweat from sports like cycling or horseback riding, long runs in heat and humidity (I'm a distance runner), or just sitting on your rear for long periods of time, can cause this condition. Baby powder, or the Anti-Monkey Butt Powder, and wearing natural fiber, looser clothing can help alleviate the problem and aid the skin in healing.

I didn't pick these from a magazine or anything, and they are probably not the best (and certainly not the only!) ways to go a little green but here are some of the things I do to help me, my family and my environment. We're definitely not perfect (we have two cars and a sprinkler system!) but we're trying...

Discovered an interesting article in the New England Journal of Medicine about healthcare and undocumented immigrants.

The author of the article, a doctor, says “researchers estimated that undocumented adult immigrants, who make up about 3.2% of the population, account for only about 1.5% of U.S. medical costs.”

Assisted reproductive technology (ART) has improved greatly in recent years, and increasing numbers of couples have benefited from the scientific advances. At the same time, more and more people are turning to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), either alone or in conjunction with their Western treatments to improve their chances of conceiving and delivering healthy children.

In this article, I will try to help you to understand when to use TCM, when to use ART, and when to use them together.

Will We Ever Find a Cure for Breast Cancer? Stop Fighting and Start Preventing This Deadly Disease

EVERY 13 MINUTES someone dies from breast cancer. But did you know that almost 100 percent of all government and private funding supports ways to fight breast cancer rather than prevent it?

That’s right. After 30 years of research and billions of dollars spent, we still don’t know the cause of this deadly disease. And while an abundance of funding is pouring in to advance mechanical forms of fighting breast cancer such as chemo therapy and radiation, there is basically no research being administered that looks at the cause of breast cancer.
