Ohio State Representative Stephanie Tubbs Jones died this week in Cleveland from a brain aneurtsm that ruptured while she was driving. She was taken to the Cleveland Clinic and was unable to recover. She was only 58 years old.

Brain aneurysms are little balloon type 'pockets' that are found in the arteries. Many are in the brain but can also be found around the heart or in the legs or other areas of the body.

It is uncanny: I can fall asleep in exhaustion during the day. Or more accurately: I could. Then, when it is time to sleep, I can't. I doubt that there is much I have not read or done to help this condition. A sleep-study showed that I don't haver apnea. Medications have produced uneven results, and I am weary of them as a longterm solution. Gayle Greene's book: Insomniac, is right after my heart - but alas it offers no solutions. She has recommended a new book to a friend: I Want to Sleep- Unlearning Insomnia by: Dr. Siegfried Haug.

I can't believe this -- radio host Michael Savage calls kids with Autism "brats"

Okay, all I can figure out is that talk radio host Michael Savage is either the most ignorant person on the planet or he has just done a really, really stupid publicity stunt.

Who in their right mind would say that Autism is a fraud and that kids with Autism are brats and idiots???

Shame on Talk Radio Network for not firing him yet....

Headache for 30 +years!

So I woke up with a headache one morning when I was about 31. I was up in Flag for a week-long workshop. Went into town and got some Tylenol or something. Headache didn't go away. It was right behind my right eye. Long story short, saw opthalmalogists, neurologists, pain docs, had acupuncture, physical therapy, used a TENS unit, had this Chinese thing where they put these little tiny beads on your ear. Have been on every medication there is. Even went to a well known neurologist in Phoenix who is a well-known headache specialist.

As I try to write this I am Flashing. I had a Hysterectomy 2 and 1/2 years ago. I am 55 years old. Ever since the surgery I have massive mood swings, hot flashes and night sweats. I can't sleep without a sleeping pill and now I add a muscle relaxer because of my resistance to the sleeping pills. I take Estratest but does not seem to help much. I have been on anti-depressants for 20 years my dosage had to be increased since the surgery. I read your article in the newpaper today and copied it at work.

I would like to know if my stress from taking care of a wheeelchair and bed bound spouse affect any of my current conditions. I know if I get away for a couple of hours I feel much better, but it tires me out. I could easily sleep most of the day if I had time.
I had serious surgery in Nov 2007 for an ulcer that would not heal so nopw there are medications, such as for Ostoperosis that I can no longer take. Also I can no longer take Celebrex for my arthritis.
Any suggestions for substitutes?
Thanks

Frankly, the last thing I usually want to do is focus on my headaches. The whole thing tends to make my cranky, but in light of National Headache Awareness week, I thought I'd point out a few videos that may actually help.
