Dr. Grobe:
It is self-limiting so your body will eventually get rid of it. In the meantime while you have active lesions you can transfer it to other people.
The best thing to do if you’ve contracted molluscum is to support your immune system, support viral elimination of the immune system to facilitate your body getting rid of the infection.
I know conventionally molluscum is burned off. I think some people even recommend that you try and pop them, which is not really an appropriate thing to do.
Burning them off does remove the lesions. It does not, however, remove the viral infection.
