Dr. Shaw:

Facial fillers have been very popular in last 5 to 10 years or beyond, starting with the collagen, in the collagen days. The fillers have changed recently and have moved into the HAs or the hyaluronic acids, the Juvederms, the Restylanes, and even more recently into calcium hydroxyapatite or radius. They are used to fill lines of different depths and the hydroxyapatite or the radius is really used for facial ionization and for contouring the face.

A large push in my practice and focus has been towards facial ionization because the fuller face is a more youthful face.
