A List of Stomach Cancer Symptoms

Rate This

Stomach cancer, also known as gastric cancer, occurs in the muscular sac located in the abdomen, below the ribs known as the stomach. The stomach is of course a crucial part of the digestive process and in order to maintain the health of the stomach it is important to be aware of any signs or symptoms of something amiss.

Food is both received and held by the stomach, as well as partially digested by being somewhat broken down. Another term for stomach cancer is gastric cancer. These two terms most often refer to the most common form of stomach cancer known as adenocarcinoma. This is stomach cancer that begins in the mucus-producing cells on the inside lining of the stomach.

Japan has a high incidence of stomach cancer, while cases in the U.S. are on the decline. The symptoms of stomach cancer may include:

Feeling bloated after eating
Feeling full after eating little
Stomach pain
Weight loss

It is very important to seek out medical advice or make an appointment for an exam if you are experiencing these symptoms or just instinctively feel that something is not right with your stomach. There are no definitive causes of stomach cancer, however, certain conditions are linked with this condition. Conditions include:
Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection of the stomach, H. pylori (a bacterium that infects the lining of the stomach and causes chronic inflammation and ulcers), advanced aging, poor dietary habits and poor lifestyle choices.
