Dr. Lazarus:

Well, then the pregnant woman might by hypothyroid, and if that’s continued, that could have an adverse affect on the baby. In other words, the baby could result in a rather low IQ, but one mustn’t be alarmist about that. It isn’t always the case, but there are data to suggest that that is a risk factor.
