Dr. Akl:

Urinary tract infections can be caused because of sexual intercourse, poor vulvovaginal hygiene, urinary tract abnormalities, meaning congenital abnormalities of the urinary tract or foreign bodies inside the bladder such as stones.

Signs and symptoms of urinary tract infection include burning on urination or emptying the bladder, pelvic or suprapubic pain or discomfort or pressure, urinary frequency, meaning going to the bathroom a lot, or urinary urgency, which is a persistent urge and need to go to the bathroom all the time.
