Just after New Year's I started having digestive issues that got worse. I went to see the doctor and after several tests they sent me in for a colonoscopy. On February 16th, I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. I'm currently taking Prednisone and Balsalazide (Colazal). This has been one of the hardest years of my life thus far. I am a relatively active person and karate is in my blood. Lately, I haven't been able to do all that I have been wanting to do, and it's been frustrating. But I am holding on and trusting that the Lord will heal me. I am blessed to have great family, friends, and a truly incredible boyfriend to help me through it all... I'll get there eventually. It'll just take some time.

Inspiration

"The ultimate aim of Karate lies not in victory or defeat, but in the perfection of the character of its participants." -- Gichin Funakoshi “You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, ‘I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.’ You must do the thing you think you cannot do.” – Eleanor Roosevelt
