Dr. Matthew J. Matava, M.D., is an associate professor and orthopedic surgeon at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Specializing in sports medicine, his clinical areas of interest include ligament injuries of the knee, athletic injuries of the shoulder and elbow, and pediatric orthopedic knee disorders.

Dr. Matava received his medical degree from the University of Missouri, Kansas City School of Medicine, conducted his residency in orthopedic surgery at Emory University Affiliated Hospitals in Atlanta, Georgia, and completed his fellowship in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery at Cincinnati Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center. Dr. Matava was listed in Best Doctors in America, 2005-2008.
