Dr. Shyam Dahiya
Leading a multi-disciplinary team of experts at Doctor Bariatric is board-certified Shyam L. Dahiya, M.D. who brings more than 20 years of experience in general and trauma surgery. As a general and laparoscopic surgeon, Dr. Dahiya has performed numerous innovative bariatric surgeries including the Laparoscopic Bariatric Surgery.
Dr. Dahiya received his medical training at Medical College Rohtak in India and then completed his surgical residency at Sinai Hospital of Detroit, a Wayne State University School of Medicine affiliated program. He continued his medical training as a surgical oncologist fellow at Stehlin Foundation for Cancer Research in Houston, Texas. In addition, he received instruction and advance post-graduate training in laparoscopic surgery. Dr. Dahiya has served as a medical instructor in the surgical residency program at Sinai Hospital of Detroit.
In an effort to ensure his patients have the least amount of pain and the fastest path to recovery, Dr. Dahiya offers a number of non-invasive and incision less surgeries to approach weight loss surgery at his office.
Using innovative technology, Dr. Dahiya avoid large incisions and instead provides patients with laparoscopic gastric bypass surgery which makes four to five small, half-inch incisions to access the abdomen with a small video camera and small instruments. During the surgery, Dahiya and his team are able to view the operation on a television monitor.
