I've suffered from "female troubles" for all of my life. With irregular bleeding that was out of control, I finally had an ablation at 44. But that was just the beginning. Two years ago, my ovaries were removed because of borderline tumors. My doctor slapped on a hormone patch and said "You'll be fine." I wasn't.

Within a month of my oophrectomies, I couldn't function. At 46, I had thyroid issues, was beyond exhausted, gaining weight, couldn't string a sentence together; had little short term memory; I was in pain all the time, and could not sleep. I was allergic to the patch, so nothing was absorbing. My gynecologist then offered HRT pills instead. She never once tested ANY of my hormone levels. I refused the pills and decided to look for a new doctor.

I researched and went from doctor to doctor, looking for relief. After trying bio-identical hormone replacement, I began feeling better, but have had some stress related setbacks. I'm now trying to find a balance.

Don't accept "it's all in your head" or "you just have to put up with it" as an answer. It ISN'T and you DON'T.
