I am the founder of the inCYST Institute for Hormone Health, a network of professionals treating stress-related disease, marketed under disease-specific brands. Our primary venture is inCYST Programs for Women with Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), affecting 10% of women, and the major cause of infertility. This venture recently expanded into a more encompassing "institute" to allow us to use what we learned with our PCOS work to benefit people with other related hormone imbalances.
I also co-produce Insomniacfest, an educational experiential event for people wanting to improve their sleep habits.
I wrote the American Dietetic Association's first book on eating disorders, and a manual on the nutritional implications of 59 nervous system/psychiatric medications. I produce a newsletter, "After the Diet."
Our programs are available in numerous US locations. Our strongest presence is in Phoenix and Southern California, with providers stretching from San Diego to Santa Barbara. These programs create a consumer awareness of options for treatments other than medication and surgery. We recently partnered with Green Mountain at Fox Run Resort to offer the first-ever spa week for women with PCOS. It was successful enough that we are planning two additional weeks in 2010.
Partnership is something we pride ourselves on doing well. We have also begun to train psychologists and dermatologists to provide support for the debilitating emotional and appearance-related symptoms of PCOS. The first participants in this professional outreach were featured in PCOS Challenge's first professional webinar series.
