I had a rough peri menopause, emotional rollercoaster, which lead me to write a blog, at www.msmenopause.blogspot.com, and later morphed into a book, The Tao of Turning Fifty, for women in their forties and fifties who wonder what the heck is going on. I was full of anxiety, fears, rage, PMS'ing for 2 weeks out of the month. It wasn't the hot flashes that got me but the need to be gentle with myself (before I strangled my two teens). It has lead to me doing more yoga, meditation, journaling, and getting regular osteopathic treatments, or acupuncture as needed. Rolfing really helped me clear some emotional baggage and feel better in my body and mind. I think menopause is a huge wake-up call for women. We must learn to put ourselves on the list, say no more, be less perfectionist, and get more down time. All work and no play makes Jill very full companion and friend.

Inspiration

When we truly care for ourselves, it becomes possible to care far more profoundly about other people. The more alert and sensitive we are to our own needs, the more loving and generous we can be towards others. Eda LeShan
