I loved to America from Australia over 25 years ago, and lived for 23 years in Oregon before moving to Arizona in 2008. I am the mother of a 22 year old daughter, was married for 6 years, had a live-in relationship for 6 years, and lived pretty much as a single woman since! In December last year I made the commitment to a new and permanent relationship and was married in April this year.
I was diagnosed with MS about 13 years ago, but now believe I do not have it. (The story about that journey will appear soon.) A melanoma was removed from my back 3 weeks before I drove out to Arizona, on the day after Xmas, 2007.
I am an active horsewoman, and until the move took care of 8-10 horses year round, teaching and encouraging riders. I now simply enjoy a fine little Arab mare of my own. I used to run a lot (marathons and the like) and think there is at least one more Full M in me, even though the last big run I did was a 1/2, and that was over 3 years ago! A theatre professional (with experience in all aspects of creating, presenting and funding live performance), I am also an arts-in-healthcare specialist (and a consultant with the Society for the Arts in Healthcare; an educator (with many years as adjunct faculty at a liberal arts college in the Theatre department); and a writer (my book Personal Magic will be available by the end of the year.)
In 2000 I created an arts-in-healthcare process that brought together writing, public performance and, as I later came to understand how it works, Spirit. It is called Performing Wellness. I developed and have available to tour a 1woman show that shares some of the stories created over 7 years of working with different groups who shared a life changing experiences.
Many years living away from my family of origin has brought me to fully appreciate the families we create, through work, play, shared experiences and simply by Being. My greatest teacher is my daughter.
My vision is to incorporate the arts in facilitating the release of Personal Magic - that unique way each of us have of Being and expressing oneself in the world - for as many who are willing and ready to step into their magical self.
We are in the final glory-days of 2011 and all that this time of year brings us. We have opportunity to reflect on the past and vision forward, to give thanks and to have Fun. There is so much ...
