I was dx'd with fibromyalgia in February of 2009. I have had problems off and on since 2000--started with migraines. I was dealt a blow, so to speak when my son was dx'd with type 1 diabetes in 2000. He was only 2. Thats when the not sleeping and headaches started. Things went downhill from there pretty much. I had tried for 6 years to get pregnant and was not successful until 2004. I had hard rough labor and after almost 24 hours, had an emergancy c-section. Wait back up, I had a laperospic procedure done in 03. Then in 08, I had a hysterectomy---there were complications and I had another surgery immediately when the hysto was done. So basically, my dr said my body had been exposed to too much schock in a very short time.
I was on Lyrica--150 mgs/twice a day. However, i have weaned myself off of it b/c I can't tell that it helps any with the pain. So why take it if I still hurt like heck? I have had blood work done and they said that the arthritis panel was negative. They tested Vit d levels--said it was on the low normal side. Suggested I take at least 800 mgs/day--Ive been taking like 2,000. Ive cut out almost all caffiene-that has helped with my sleeping pattern some, but not completely.
Fibromyalgia is REAL and it STINKS. The pain is horrible and when you feel like you've been hit by a truck all of the time, its depressing. People who think that its 'all in your head' have NO clue what those of us who have Fibro go through.
