Mireya Hernandez
is HopefulOriginally from Chicago, I now find myself in the great and dry Southwest, where life is a bit slower and there's much less pressure to have nice things. I've been a magazine and newspaper freelance writer for several years, covering topics ranging from news and government to arts and health. I've also delved a bit into producing radio news stories, which developed my ear for a different kind of storytelling. Nowadays, I only do occasional freelance projects and fun community efforts like this. Although I'm not hanging on to my dreams of winning a Pulitzer some day, I continue to work in the nonprofit community (which is kind of like journalism) and hope to use my work as a writer and with the community to become an advocate for social, health, and women's issues.
