Melissa Cortes came to Empowher with a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Tiffin University in Ohio. Her professional career was inspired by growing up with hardships of poverty and a physically abusive father.
Ms. Cortes joined the US Army in 1994 and spent 8 years serving her country. She became well traveled with her time in service and learned many cultural diversities. In her professional career, she was a commercial crime investigator, anti-money laundering investigator and currently works for the US Government investigating claims of toxic exposures and illnesses obtained during the construction of the Atomic Bomb.
She is always inspired by her Mother that had suffered breast cancer twice and several other ailments including massive depression. She has endured turbulent times in her life including suicide of a loved one. Melissa continuously strives to become more informed of ideas and new strategies of health.
