I became acutely concerned with women's health issues when my sister was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer in March of 2003. For more than five years, I watched her bravely battle this illness until her death in October 2008. I currently teach college English and work as a freelance writer. I completed my undergraduate study at Lafayette College in Easton, PA, and my graduate studies at Trinity College, Dublin, and the University of South Florida.
