Terry:

My name is Terry and I had some heavy periods and to tell you the truth, I didn’t have a lot of the classic symptoms that women who have fibroids have. I had always had gone to the gynecologist and everything was usually fine, or so they said. And, what eventually happened is, I went for an annual exam and there was someone who found it. And what ended up happening is because my sister has fibroids and she had been working with Dr. McLucas, I came straight here because he is the best.

Actually, most women don’t realize that they have fibroids because they think that it’s the regular pain of your menstrual period and to tell you the truth, I never realized how bad it was. So, I did have, let’s say, a heavy flow, but I got lucky in a sense. I had just got back from a vacation and I was going to postpone the appointment and the nurse who was doing my exam said, “You have an enlarged uterus. Either you are pregnant or you have fibroids,” and I wasn’t pregnant.

So, what happened with me was, I really didn’t have excruciating pain although the pain went away right after I had my embolization. I mean, it was amazing. So, my symptoms weren’t necessarily, how can I explain this, my symptoms were not excruciating pain all the time although I know, you know, women do experience that.
