Candida introduces herself and explains if she felt embarrassed to find help for her her varicose and spider veins.

Candida:
Hi, my name is Candida. I had noticed a large, I didn’t really know it was a varicose vein, but a vein, and spider veins in my legs. Since having children about four years ago, it has got progressively worse. Last summer I couldn’t go in a bikini or shorts and I thought a little makeup or something or fake tan would cover it, but it really just was not working at all. So I thought I have to look into it.

My mother had varicose veins too, so I thought it might be in the family, and so I looked for a doctor who could help with this. And I came here for consultation and thinking it was just for spider vein treatment, and Kay, who gave me the consultation, said, “I think we’ve got a large varicose vein here, and that’s making all the spider veins worse.”

So, I was so impressed with how thorough they were and the scale of the technology and using the ultrasound machine in my legs and just how they can ascertain the state of one’s legs or veins or what needs treatment. So I was very reassured as soon as I came here. They weren’t, that it wasn’t just a standard procedure.

So I came back after a few week or so, and they took out one large, long varicose vein from the top of my thigh to my ankle with a laser procedure.

No, not personally. My father is a dentist, and we have always, my mother has had varicose vein treatment. We have always been very medically orientated and action orientated. If there’s a problem, we should see a specialist in that field if we can. So no, I didn’t feel it was vain, to use a pun, as someone said, but it was necessary because it was hurting. And it was unsightly, but it was also, felt pressure on my lower part of my body.
