Dr. Navarro:

Between 60 and 80% of women who has varicose veins have spider veins also. So it’s very common to have both expressions of the disease, we can say. And of course, when somebody has varicose veins, the varicose veins are more important aspect of the disease so that’s what you usually will treat first, but then of course you need to take care of the spider veins for cosmetic reasons.

Luis Navarro, M.D., F.A.C.S., is the Founder and Medical Director of The Vein Treatment Center, established in 1982. Dr. Navarro is a General Surgeon, originally board certified in 1976. He is also a senior Clinical Instructor of Surgery at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He completed his residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, where he was Chief Surgical Resident.
