Hi, I’m Bailey Mosier. This is your EmpowHER HER Daily Dose.
I don’t know about you, but I rarely go a day without a cup of coffee in the morning. And according to some recent research, a daily dose of java might help Americans live longer.

The National Institutes of Health and AARP studied 400,000 people and found there may actually be a modest benefit of coffee drinking. Even a single cup a day seemed to lower mortality risk a little: 6 per cent in men and 5 per cent in women. The strongest effect was in women who had four or five cups a day — a 16 per cent lower risk of death.

Coffee drinkers were less likely to die from heart or respiratory disease, stroke, diabetes, injuries, accidents or infections. The researchers say we should be careful not to jump to conclusions; that this doesn't prove that coffee makes people live longer, only that the two seem related.

That wraps up your EmpowHER HER Daily Dose. Join me here at EmpowHER.com every weekday for your next dose of women’s health.

Hi Bailey, thank you for this important piece of information. I like coffee and take a cup daily, especially in winter. This information is encouraging as in the past (1960s and 1970s) there were "findings" about the risks of coffee consumption. I think consumption should always be in moderation.
