Adopt a family for the holidays

Do you know a family that is struggling financially? Do you know one new to the area with no kin of their own nearby?

Is there a family who has a child with special needs and who would appreciate extra support and compassion at this time of year?

The possibilities are limited only by your imagination and enthusiasm.

Think about buying toys and clothing for the children. Perhaps the parents have done without for too long a time while struggling to meet the needs of their little ones.

Inviting them for a Christmas dinner or brunch may be the best meal they've had in awhile. It may be all they have to eat on that day.

Don't want to cook? Giving the gift of groceries will touch the hearts, and skinny pocketbooks and help these parents provide for their families in a special season.

It's easy to get wrapped up in the hectic pace and frenetic spending that can accompany the holiday season. So much to do! Friends and families to buy for, special foods and treats to lay out for the holiday spread. Parties and social obligations crowd the calendar.

But wait.

Does some of it ring hollow? When you have a rare quiet moment, does it seem like something is missing or left out?

Want your giving to have special meaning and ongoing effects? Then it's time to think about giving back during this season that is supposed to be all about giving.
