Prevent Obesity

Taking measures to prevent obesity during childhood reduces the risk for the development of serious health issues in adulthood. According to the CDC, the current rate of childhood obesity in the United States has reached approximately 17% or 12.5 million children between the ages of 2 and 19. Obesity increases the risk for coronary artery disease, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, stroke, sleep apnea and respiratory problems, osteoarthritis and gynecological problems such as infertility and abnormal menses. Being overweight increases the risk for the development of breast, colon and endometrial cancers.
