I have to admire melatonin for its versatility. I had heard of melatonin being used for jet lag and insomnia before. I knew that it can help to correct the body's circadian rhythm when it's been thrown off by circumstance or poor health. But I didn't realize just how many other benefits melatonin has to offer.

Melatonin can be used in treating diseases of the blood and cardiovascular system. It is a supplement that sometimes helps fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. People take it for infectious diseases and neurological diseases.

Melatonin is taken to correct gastrointestinal tract disorders and diabetes. It has been used in treating diseases of the eye like macular degeneration and glaucoma.

"During the last 20 years, numerous clinical trials have examined the therapeutic usefulness of melatonin in different fields of medicine. The objective of this article is to review, in depth, the science regarding clinical trials performed to date."
