TED and the Power of Sharing

We are happy to announce that our fearless Founder Michelle King Robson had the honor of speaking at TEDxLowerEastSide in New York City Friday, October 25th 2013 (Watch Michelle's TEDx Talk) under the theme The Hero’s Journey. If you’re not familiar with the reputable TED brand, let us give you a rundown.

TED is a nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out in 1984 as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. It has now grown into two annual conferences and multiple programs across the globe bringing together the world’s brightest and most innovative leaders, thinkers and doers. TEDx is designed to give communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level.

We are thrilled, to say the least, to be a part of something so closely aligned with our mission. Taken directly from TED.com, “We believe passionately in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives, and ultimately, the world.” At EmpowHER, we like to say that when you have information, you have the power to change outcomes in your life and every life you touch. It’s the energetic exchange of information that makes a difference.

"Everyone has a story. I am honored that mine gets to be shared through TEDx. I've found through EmpowHER and the women we serve, sharing is everything. We all want someone who's walked a mile in our shoes to talk about our struggles with,” Michelle said.

During Michelle’s TEDx talk this October, she illustrated the power of sharing and how she has shown others, and herself, that she is a hero for creating EmpowHER allowing women the opportunity to shed false pretenses, and share with each other to help improve their health and wellness.

And, to put icing on the cake, the EmpowHER voice was amplified even further by our Chief Clinical Officer and Board Member, Dr. Pam Peeke who also spoke at the event. All of us here at EmpowHER want to congratulate Michelle and Dr. Peeke on their respective TEDxLowerEastSide Talks.
