Dr. Emdur describes estrogen deficiency symptoms and how they are treated.
Dr. Emdur:
You know, the big question is, you know, are you estrogen deficient? And the answer is really symptom-driven, you know, are you forgetting where you put your keys? Are you restless? Are you anxious? Are you having trouble losing weight? Are you having trouble concentrating? Do you have a crawling sensation in your skin? It could be again one of four hundred different symptoms
If you answer yes to any of those questions, I think you really need to go and see your doctor to have your estrogen levels checked and again, that would be either a 24-hour urine, looking at the three different levels of estrogen – there’s E1, E2 and E3. You can do a salivary test. It would probably be a great place to start, and if your levels are low, you know, I would consider replacement with bio-identical hormone therapy.
